Itinerary: Off the Beaten Track in Rangiroa and huahine
Have you planned a 7 day holiday and are wondering where to go in Tahiti? 118 islands don’t make it easy but that’s what Tahiti is all about: diversity! It also depends on what you like to do so we’ve suggested 3 different itineraries, the following one is based on nature. Every itinerary starts and finishes on the main island, Tahiti, as your flight will arrive late in the evening (coming from Australia or New Zealand) and you'll usually need to spend your first night here.
If you want to stay away from the many tourists who frequent the islands and want to be immersed in the Polynesian ambiance and Mana (spirit), this is the perfect trip for you:
DAY 1: TAHITI
You'll arrive fairly late in Tahiti and will spend the first night on the main island.
DAY 2: TAHITI to rangiroa
Take off to beautiful Rangiroa (Tuamotu islands) to get your journey started.
- it’s a diver’s paradise
- it’s the largest atoll of the islands of Tahiti
- it’s simply idyllic.
Check out our article about Rangiroa for more information.
Must do in Rangiroa:
- Blue Lagoon Tour
- Pearl Farm Visit
- Diving/Snorkeling Excursion
Don't know where to stay? There's a range of options available, from pensions (small family run hotels) to hotels.
DAY 4 TO DAY 6: rangiroa to huahine
Continue your journey on Huahine.
3 reasons to go to Huahine:
- An authentic island with Polynesian ambiance and scenery.
- Cultural discoveries: archaeologic remnants concentrated around the traditional village of Maeva.
- Activities for everyone: beautiful white sand beaches lie in the districts of Fare and Parea.
You can find out more about Huahine here.
DAY 6: huahine to tahiti
Head back to the main island, Tahiti to wrap up your week-long adventure.
Meal suggestion: Enjoy your last evening at the Roulottes, Place Vai'ete, Papeete.
DAY 7: Tahiti to auckland
Departure for home (to or via Auckland)
These are just an idea of what you could do in 7 days, and we could offer you at least 100 more itineraries!.
